The Eat Hunger Initiative
Join us on August 25th to launch the Eat Hunger Initiative! See details of this event (which will take place in Madison, WI) on the Eat Hunger Facebook Event Page
What is The Eat Hunger Initiative?
We live in a world where it has become very easy to detach ourselves from the issues that affect the poorest and most vulnerable people. The Eat Hunger Initiative gives us an opportunity to experience, even if for only several hours and at a much lesser scale, hunger. Hunger Day is a day you choose to experience hunger.
Your experience can then be shared with others that choose to participate in this initiative. It is a movement that will hopefully begin to reshape the way we think about our world and the impact we can make.
It is a movement that we hope you, your family and friends will support.
How can I be a part of The Eat Hunger Initiative?
- Sign up HERE!
- For one day, eat nothing till Noon, 3PM, or 6PM: As you live out your Hunger Day, reflect on the hundreds of millions of people in our world that live like this most days. But most importantly, as you reflect, know that you can be a part of the solution and by participating in this initiative, you are taking a huge step in the right direction.
- Feast at Noon, 3PM or 6PM: There are different ways to end your Hunger Day. You can do it by yourself or organize a get together with friends. If you do it with friends, as you eat, talk about your experiences on Hunger Day and discuss what it would mean for others to have access to food and drink as easily as you do and the impact that access might have on their lives.
- Make a commitment: Commit to changing something about your life, no matter how small. One of the fallacies that prevents us from doing something is the notion that our contribution is too small and that it will not achieve much. Check out some ideas on what you can do here -
- Tell us about it: We want to know. We believe there is power in numbers and that as this movement grows, our collective impact will grow. Please tell us about your Hunger Day on our facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/povertystopshere.
(a) Make this a monthly/yearly commitment - Check back on this page for dates for monthly Hunger Days
